The Right To Access Information... One Of Our MOST Basic Rights In Democratic Countries... and I right which was virtually removed from me by the IPC and the City of Greater Sudbury as it attempted in my opinion to "stop the bleed" resulting from the release of extremely damaging information which I had obtained via the Freedom of Information process long before the municipality's legal department knew what I was in the process of documenting! The municipality pushed the IPC to allow me only ONE Freedom of Information request per YEAR - virtually eliminating one of my most basic rights in a supposedly free and democratic country! The IPC KNEW of the involvement of the Attorney General, the MMAH, and the PEO in these issues. In my opinion, their decision to side with the municipality was based not on the facts of the case but rather on misplaced loyalties. There could be no doubt given the documentation I had provided to the IPC that the municipality had been less than honest in its dealings with my family when problems arose. Who intervenes when the IPC obstructs access, in my opinion, to protect their supervisor, the Attorney General? A review of the facts would have shown the municipality had been less than honest with us and that there were major players/enforcement bodies who could be in hot water over these issues. As such, in my opinion, the IPC is also very much guilty of breach of public trust. Our "justice system" at its best. Where is the integrity of our legal system?
